FISS MEETING TO DISCUSS THE FUTURE OF THE CHARITY
At Albermarle Baptist Church 7pm 17th January 2018
Bruce Clark the charity worker will be retiring in August. The meeting was proposed for discussion as to the future of FISS.
Those in attendance were: Paul Barker (Salvation Army); Tammie Sephton (Salvation Army); David
Nellist (Maranatha); Graeme and Jenny Parkins (Elim); Graham and Emma Morgan (Methodist)
Mike Leigh (St Marks C of E); Joe Coates (Assembly taker); Graham White (St James CofE); Stephen
Slade (Treasurer); Steve Blower (Sidewalk); Peter Cross (Chair); Geoff Bowell (SCF Assembly Taker); Ros Brewer (St Marks CofE)
Apologies: Neil Douglas (Ebenezer)
Much open discussion took place and the main conclusions were as follows:
That FISS should continue if possible. While funding is fine at the moment it may prove a problem in the future. However, it was agreed that as God had provided through the Scarborough Church, if the work should continue, God will continue to provide. More in depth analysis of the finances would be necessary to determine exactly what could be offered to a potential new worker(s). A mailing should be sent to existing supporters, individual and churches, as to how much financial commitment they would have in the future towards the charity.
It was suggested that a new appeal for Trustees would be in order.
It was suggested that a questionnaire/letter to schools via CTIS as to how much they would value church involvement in the future. It was noted that this has been attempted by FISS for senior schools in the past with no feedback.
* It was asked which churches and individuals had their own involvement in schools and suggested perhaps it would be a good time to collate this information in order to assess future involvement and also streamline the work to assure that gaps could be filled and coordination without unnecessary duplication could be achieved.
We finished in prayer and thankfulness for God’s love and faithfulness through the 20 years FISS has been in operation.
The next meeting would be to look at this information (*) and see what could be gleaned and discuss further the work of FISS.
This meeting will be held on Wednesday 14th March 2018 at Albermarle Baptist Church 7:00pm
