Review from last meeting
Results from the survey indicate there is much involvement by churches in schools but this certainly does not cancel out the need a dedicated youth worker for our schools. Where schools welcome a member from the local church they are also very welcoming towards FISS.
Tammy Sefton (Salvation Army) and Catherine Dufton (Ebenezer) have met up and have attended Northstead Fruit Loop Club with FISS over the past month and have shown considerable interest in being part of the work of FISS in the future.
Summary of this meeting:
It was concluded that with Bruce leaving and the tended resignation of Peter Cross (Chair) as well as a depletion of trustees FISS would need a complete revamp. This was not considered an arduous task but rather a great opportunity for something new with God – nevertheless much work and commitment would be necessary.
After many positive contributions and fruitful discussion, we recognised and committed ourselves to the following tasks:
- Set up an up-to-date Job Description.
- Inform funders of our plans to go forward and, on that basis, seek continued support.
- With the best information possible assess exactly what FISS can afford re: employing a new worker(s).
- Advertise for new Trustees.
- Plan an advert for new employment.
- Contact Tyro re: training for employment policies.
A group was set up to help implement and see these tasks to conclusion: Bruce Clark; Rev Peter Cross; Steve Blower (Sidewalk); and Celia Hare (St Marks Youth worker). We intend to meet 12th April.
We will keep you informed of developments.
